“MEMOIRS OF A KITTY” by Sean Danconia.Originally commissioned as a gift for the (former) President of Sanrio (USA)—the very first Danconia “kitty-inspired” mixed-media art piece, “Memoirs of a Kitty” (₌♥ᆽ♥₌) was envisioned as a imaginary 3D-movie-musical, marking the early years of Kitty White’s life in both London and later—Japan.
The pop-surreal sakura-tinted cut-out-collage-style art celebrates her time as a member of the Takarazuka Revue, leading to her fairy-tale romantic involvement with Dear(est) Daniel, and her inveitable evolution into the world’s most iconic “official” un-official official ambassador of captivating kitti-rific kawaii cuteness ฅ(^・ω・^ฅ)!
The art features Kitty-chan in a signature pink kimono, with giant getta—all designed by Yamamoto-San of Tokyo Bridal & Tuxedo (Little Tokyo, Los Angeles) *✧₊✪͡◡ू✪͡, standing at Takarazuka Station, about to board a Kitty-Shinkansen for her new life in Tokyo, flanked by an original array of Hanafuda cards, harkening back to Nintendo’s founding (creator of modern Hanafuda) back in 1889, in addition to show-era Japanese iconography from Ukiyo-E woodblock prints, chiyogami paper and wave elements inspired by Hokusai 葛飾 北斎 himself.
