TOMORROW’S JOE (RISING RED REVENGE)” was originally created as part of an official 85th anniversary POPEYE exhibit—where Asao Takamori + Tetsuya Chiba’s Yabuki Joe (あしたのジョー) was to take on the famed spinach-munchin’ salty sailor, after rising up from his final resting position at the end of the official manga (many fans are still unsure as to whether Joe died or not, despite Takamori suggesting that he had in his biography published in 1979). Alas it was not to be due to the participation conditions but some of the prototype sketches still exist and they’ve been remixed here into 3 UltraMOD offerings (two version of Joe alone, and one of the Popeye + Joe together).
